Is this the year's first Oscar contender? The film, "Fruitvale Station," debuted to rave reviews at this year's Sundance Film Festival, and it's now being released by the Weinstein Company, who know a thing or two about winning Academy Awards.
"Fruitvale Station" is based on the true story of Oscar Grant (Michael B. Jordan), an unarmed 22-year-old Bay Area resident who was shot to death by BART officers at the Fruitvale station stop on New Year's Day in 2008. The incident ended up making national news, with residents of the community, along with family and friends, saying that Grant was killed in cold bold.
Today, Moviefone, as well as our sister site Huffington Post Entertainment, is proud to debut the first official poster from the film. You can check it out below. The movie, which stars Jordan, Octavia Spencer, Chad Michael Murray, and Kevin Durand, hits theaters July 12.
