It's difficult to imagine the muscle-bulging, Bane-masked Tom Hardy wailing "Tiny Dancer" on the piano while adorned with feathers and sequins. However, according to HitFix Hardy is being considered to portray Sir Elton John in the musical fantasy biopic "Rocketman."
Currently in development with first-time director Michael Gracey and "Billy Elliot" screenwriter Lee Hall, HitFix reports that music figures Bernie Taupin and John Reid have also been tied to “Rocketman” for supporting roles.
The film has been described by Steve Hamilton Shaw of John's Rocket Pictures as "a radically different type of biopic." If "radically different" means a completely unexpected, hyper-masculine lead, then we're in for a whole new Elton experience.
Yet, we've already heard a bit of Hardy's singing and even rapping in online videos, so maybe he won't be such a bad fit.
