After Emma Watson turned down the title role in Disney's upcoming “Cinderella” movie, the studio and director Kenneth Branagh are testing to see if the slipper fits three young, up-and-coming actresses.
As Deadline reports, the princess search has narrowed down to Bella Heathcote, who appeared alongside Johnny Depp in the movie “Dark Shadows”; Lily James, who got into mischief as Lady Rose on “Downton Abbey”; and Margot Robbie, who was a stewardess-in-training on “Pan AM.”
The live-action version of the classic fairy tale already found its evil stepmother in Cate Blanchett. And Deadline says that “Game of Thrones” wannabe-king Richard Madden is being eyed to play the Prince.
The clock is ticking on the decision; if Branagh wants to film this fall for a 2014 release, he'll need to crown his Cinderella soon.
