To the disappointment of some, the world didn't end last December. That's good news for lots of us, but it's a little bittersweet for the cast and crew of "This Is the End." Sure, it would have been a great tie-in if the world had actually ended, but that would have put the kibosh on this summer comedy's release, which looks like a veritable smorgasbord of your favorite comic stars.
Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, and Craig Robinson play on-screen versions of themselves in this weird, decidedly R-rated meta-flick about the end of the universe. In the film, a raucous house party at Chez Franco leads to a whole lotta death and destruction, with the crew facing way more than a hangover the following morning.
Seth Rogen and writing partner Evan Goldberg are making their directorial debut with "This Is the End," which is based on their short film "Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse." We'll be seeing a lot of the usual suspects from Apatown in this movie, like Jason Segel and Michael Cera, along with Emma Watson, Paul Rudd, Mindy Kaling, Kevin Hart, and Rihanna.
Rogen told EW, "I don't think any of us were as well known a few years ago as we are now… That helps the movie a lot -- everyone has much more preconceived notions about, say, Franco and Jonah and me and Danny than they did five years ago." That's for sure! Franco, for one, is giving fans whiplash with all the different roles he's taking on this year, from "Oz" to "Spring Breakers."
You can check out the first photo from the film over on EW. If you're over 18, the red band trailer is below. (Be warned -- if you're at work, you'll need your headphones!)
