Carrie Fisher is famous for her role as Princess Leia in the “Star Wars” trilogy, but she's just as well known for her laser-sharp sense of humor and intelligence as a writer and memoirist. So, was she joking when she told Palm Beach Illustrated that she'll be dusting off those Leia buns for J.J. Abrams's “Star Wars VII”? Fisher was asked outright whether she'd be joining the crew, and she replied “yes,” but then went on to joke about what an aged Leia would be like: "She's in an intergalactic old folks' home [laughs]. I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle," she told Illustrated. Fisher went on to add that Leia would still wear her old garb, too. "The bagel buns and the bikini, because probably she has sundowners syndrome. At sundown, she thinks that she's twenty-something. And she puts it on and gets institutionalized." Hmm, has anyone suggested this to Abrams? If this is true, Fisher might not be the only one returning to the intergalactic fold. Harrison Ford has publically evinced interest, though at least one site has reported that he will be returning as Han Solo. Meanwhile, Mark Hamill has been a tad more forthcoming. He told Entertainment Tonight, "They're talking to us … George [Lucas] wanted to know whether we'd be interested. He did say that if we didn't want to do it, they wouldn't cast another actor in our parts -- they would write us out … I can tell you right away that we haven't signed any contracts." Hamill also revealed to Entertainment Weekly that he and Fisher had had lunch with George Lucas last summer to discuss the new trilogy as well. It sounds possible that the old gang will be all there in "Star Wars: Episode VII," but we've got at least another two years of rumors and rumblings before we'll be seeing it for ourselves. Stay tuned. [via Palm Beach Illustrated]
