Just when the wave of "Twilight"-mania died down, audiences need to start prepping themselves for the release of Stephanie Meyer's next epic production "The Host." Unlike "Twilight" however, the young heroine of this story is a pro-active butt-kicker by the name of Melanie Stryder. In the world of "The Host," humans have been possessed by an alien force that controls their minds and bodies. Melanie is one of the few surviving humans who have not been taken over -- and in order to find the man she loves, she'll be guided by a mysterious spirit known only as "the Wanderer."
To bring the part of Melanie Stryder to life, filmmakers turned to the Oscar-nominated actress Saoirse Ronan ("Hanna," "Atonement").
In the exclusive behind-the-scenes clip that you can watch at the top of this post, Ronan shows us that playing the part of "Melanie Stryder" is no walk in the park. Proving that she's a cut above other actresses her age, Saoirse undertakes dangerous fight choreography and high-rise stunt-work, all on her own.
"The Host" arrives in theaters on Friday, March 29.
