Ben Affleck's "Argo" lit up this year's Toronto Film Festival, and all its stars came out to celebrate the film's premiere.
With the release of the 1970s-set film, cineastes and critics have loudly proclaimed: Affleck is no longer plagued by his past moviemaking mistakes; he is now a respectable filmmaker.
Here, Affleck plays as Tony Mendez, a C.I.A. officer who hatched a plan to extricate six American hostages from Iran in 1979, by having them pose as a Canadian film crew. The movie, which is Affleck's third directorial effort, may sound far-fetched but is actually based on a real-life story, first documented in a 2007 Wired article by Joshuah Bearman.
Take a look at all the stars -- including a very adoring George Clooney! -- who attended the film's world premiere. "Argo" hits theaters October 12.
