It's the week after Memorial Day, which means summer has unofficially arrived. It's time for BBQ cookouts, swim meets, pool parties, and quality time with the kids. If you need a good pick for a family friendly movie this June weekend, here are two sunny, comedic picks that should serve you well.
Rated G Pick: "Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3: Viva La Fiesta!" (2012, 90 minutes)
Netflix

Kids Will Love: Talking dogs, what can get better than that for little movie lovers? There's something about these live-action movies with anthropomorphized animals that enchants young kids, and when the movie's young Chihuahuas come together to show their beloved sister Rosa how special she is, kids will cheer.
Parents Will Love: Parents will appreciate the way Chloe and Papi (and their puppies) handle their brood, overcome pesky obstacles (including marital squabbles), and keep their pups happy under new circumstances. Plus, there are enough sight gags and grown-up-friendly references to keep parents entertained for 90 minutes.
Did You Know? The voice of Chloe's pal, Sebastian, is Tom Kenny, whom most kids will know as the voice of their favorite animated underwater character, SpongeBob SquarePants (and also his pet snail Gary).
Rated PG Pick: "Yours, Mine & Ours" (PG, 2005, 88 minutes)
Netflix

Kids Will Love: This movie is guaranteed to make slightly older elementary-aged kids laugh. So many kids –- with completely different upbringings -– in one family! Children will crack up as the straight-laced, disciplined Beardsley clan, and the creative, chaotic North kids come together to break up their parents, only to realize they like being step-siblings after all.
Parents Will Love: Whether or not you have a supersized or blended family, adults will appreciate the parenting humor, particularly the many jokes dealing with the opposing ways Dennis Quaid's military dad and Rene Russo's laidback mom raise their kids. Stepfamilies can discuss how utterly wrong (or right) the movie captured the dynamic of combining households, and for an added laugh, all parents can ask their kids which family they resemble more.
Did You Know? Nickelodeon fans will recognize two of the network's fan favorites, Drake Bell and Miranda Cosgrove, playing two of Rene Russo's children. The two young actors were already very familiar, since they played big brother and little sister on the show "Drake & Josh."
