Jaden Smith is not getting emancipated.
On today's “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” the young actor set the record straight about whether he is seeking emancipation from parents Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith. Earlier this week, The Sun had quoted Will Smith as saying his son asked for the legal separation for his 15th birthday on July 8.
But Jaden Smith told DeGeneres, “I'm not going anywhere. The thing that people don't get is everything at this house is free! So I can get anything and everything at his house, so I'm going to be there 20, 30 more years."
Father and son are starring together in the sci-fi action movie “After Earth,” which hits theaters May 31. And neither expects to be parted from the other anytime soon.
“I think I made a joke in Tokyo," Will Smith explained of his quotes. "I mean… my baby boy, he's never leaving me, ever. No emancipation for the Smith kids."
Well, unless Jaden eclipses his movie star father. “He says as soon as I have a movie that's bigger than one of his movies, I can get my own house,” he joked.
