'Fruitvale Station' Trailer: An Emotional First Look at the Story of Oscar Grant

It's always questionable whether a movie that's a hit at the Sundance Film Festival can connect with a wider audience. This year's big winner at the fest was "Fruitvale Station" (then just called "Fruitvale"), and now you can watch the just-released trailer and see what all the buzz is about. The film is based on a true story and stars Michael B. Jordan -- from "The Wire" and "Friday Night Lights" (and, if you believe the rumors, the Human Torch in the "Fantastic Four" reboot) -- as Oscar Grant, a 22-year-old who lives in the San Francisco area. However, when he gets detained on an Oakland transit platform coming back from the city, things get substantially more intense, as his night soon turns into a national story. The film was written and directed by Ryan Coogler, a USC graduate making his big screen debut. Both critics and audiences were blown away by the movie at Sundance, which will hopefully translate into that elusive mainstream appeal (the Weinstein Company paid $2 million for the privilege). The film opens on July 16th. EARLIER: 'Fruitvale Station' Poster: First Look at the Sundance Favorite
