The final trailer for “Fast & Furious 6” made its debut Monday, showing off trademark car chase (and crash) sequences for which the franchise is famous.
The latest installment of the long-running series -- to be continued next summer with a Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson-starring sequel -- finds our heroes teaming up with Johnson to hunt down a gang of European car thieves led by Luke Evans. Dom (Vin Diesel) decides to join Johnson when he learns that Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), presumed dead, is alive and well and apparently working with Evans's team.
“You don't turn your back on family,” Diesel intones ominously, “even when they do.”
The European setting for “Fast 6” allows for some sweeping views of cities like London, and impressive set pieces from previous trailers -- like a military convoy being overrun by Evans's gang -- are featured again in the new clip. Tyrese also gets in a few quips, referring to Johnson as “the Hulk” and complaining during a chase that there's “a tank on my ass!”
All in all, it looks like “Fast 6” should satisfy existing fans of the franchise. The movie races into theaters May 24.
