Broadway legend Nathan Lane is a drama teacher handing out golden nuggets of advice in this exclusive clip from "The English Teacher."
"Keep at it," is the message Carl Kapinas (Lane) relays to aspiring actors and actresses at a small-town Pennsylvania high school. He tells the eager students he received the advice as a "budding young actor" himself from none other than Broadway's Steven Sondheim. The words of wisdom brought him to them, he claims. Then, Lane quite appropriately breaks into song.
Julianne Moore stars in the film as a middle-aged English teacher who lives alone with her two Siamese cats. Her life takes an unexpected turn after a former student (Michael Angarano) returns to the small town after failing as a New York playwright. Romance, life-changing events, and comedic downfall ensue. The movie also stars Lily Collins and Greg Kinnear.
Watch Nathan Lane shape young minds in the clip above, and see what unfolds for Julianne Moore when "The English Teacher" comes to theaters in limited release May 17.
