Someone must be really confident in the latest young adult novel adaptation "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones." According to The Hollywood Reporter, Constantin Films is already working on a prequel for the upcoming movie, based on a book by Cassandra Clare. The production company has reportedly hired screenwriter Stephanie Sanditz to pen "Infernal Devices." "Devices" is a spin-off of "City of Bones," and is set in Victorian England where the book follows a young girl on a journey of self-discovery. The book features the ancestors of many "Mortal Instruments" characters, and even some character over-lap. While it may seem that the prequel plans are a little premature, the production company may be banking on the legion of teenage followers Clare has to guarantee "City of Bones" is a success. "City of Bones" is about a New York City teenager (Lily Collins) who learns she is a descendent from a noble line of half-angel demon slayers, and joins their ranks in an attempt to rescue her missing mother. The movie hits theaters August 23. [via THR]
