The news that Luke Evans would be playing Dracula in a forthcoming Universal horror movie is fairly sizable. But buried within the details was the fact that the once-titled "Dracula: Year Zero," would now simply be known as "Dracula." This means it will most likely be a remake of the 1931 horror classic (as opposed to a prequel), and part of Universal's overall larger scheme to remake the classic scary movies from their Monsters canon.
But where do the other remakes currently stand? They're almost all in one stage of development or another. The only property to truly lie dormant is "The Wolf Man," which took a sizable hit after Joe Johnston's expensive 2010 remake -- log-jammed by creative differences and opposing visions -- became a critical and commercial nonstarter.
As for the other monsters, let's check in on their upcoming big-screen progress.
