This weekend's box office is filled with star-crossed lovers, action, and, well, more action.
Sci-fi romance "The Host" and the muscle-bound, action-packed "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" are both in theaters today.
"The Host," an adaptation of "Twilight" creator Stephanie Meyer's young-adult novel of the same name, tells the story of Melanie (Saoirse Ronan), a teenager whose world is turned on its head when a group of aliens invades Earth, one human at a time. Melanie tries to fight the body-snatchers and resist the alien that inhabits her body so she can save her family and the boy she loves (Max Irons).
While "The Host" is sure to get teenage hearts racing, the action-packed "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" gets the adrenaline pumping. The movie, a sequel to 2009's "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," promises to stay more in-line with the beloved comic-book / cartoon / toy franchise, and stars big-name action heroes Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Bruce Willis, who join returning "Cobra" star Channing Tatum.
For fans of good old-fashioned drama and romance, "Tyler Perry's Temptation" and "The Place Beyond the Pines" also hit theaters today.
