'The Grand Budapest Hotel': Plot Details Emerge From Wes Anderson's Star-Stuffed Film

“The Grand Budapest Hotel” will soon open its doors -- Fox Searchlight just announced it acquired the new film from Wes Anderson -- and plot details about the project have finally emerged. The movie, which was shot in Germany and just wrapped production, is set in Europe during the period between World War I and World War II and focuses on a legendary concierge at a famous hotel and his friendship with one of the hotel's employees, who becomes the man's protege. In typical Anderson fashion, “Budapest Hotel” will be stuffed with offbeat plot points, which include “the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting, the battle for an enormous family fortune, and the slow and then sudden upheavals that transformed Europe during the first half of the 20th century.” Anderson regulars Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, and Jason Schwartzman are among the huge cast list, which also includes returning Anderson actors Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton, Jeff Goldblum, Willem Dafoe, Adrien Brody, and Harvey Keitel. New to the Anderson universe and also starring are Ralph Fiennes, Jude Law, and Saoirse Ronan. Fiennes is reportedly playing the concierge, and though it's unclear who else is playing what, with a group that talented, “The Grand Budapest Hotel” should certainly live up to its name. No word yet on a release date, but The Playlist reports it could be out sometime later this year, just in time for Oscar voting. Anderson's last film, "Moonrise Kingdom," was nominated for Best Original Screenplay.
