"The Host" star Saoirse Ronan is moving on from aliens to monsters. She's signed on to star in Ryan Gosling's directorial debut, "How to Catch a Monster." The cast of Gosling's first behind-the-camera venture already includes Christina Hendricks and girlfriend Eva Mendes, and 18-year-old Ronan told The Hollywood Reporter she is excited to star opposite the ladies and is eager to work with Gosling. "I think it's going to be very experimental," Ronan said. "I think Ryan is going to be very supportive as a director, just because he's an actor as well and he gets it. She didn't disclose much else about her "experimental" new role but did say that the cast will begin rehearsals within the next two months and will start shooting in May. Ronan was nominated for an Oscar for her role in "Atonement," when she was just 13, and has appeared in 11 films since then, including the thriller "The Lovely Bones." Lately, she seems to be more sought after than ever: the teenager just wrapped Wes Anderson's "The Grand Budapest Hotel," and she just topped Moviefone's list of young Irish actors on the rise. Gosling's and Anderson's movies don't hit theaters until 2014, but you can catch Ronan falling in love and fighting alien body snatchers in "The Host" on March 29. EARLIER, ON MOVIEFONE:
