Guess the glass slipper didn't fit — Emma Watson has dropped out of Disney's upcoming live-action version of “Cinderella.” Variety reports that the Watson is no longer in talks to star in the movie, which will be directed by Kenneth Branagh. Cate Blanchett is still on board as the wicked stepmother. Phew. The “Harry Potter” star will still get to play a pretty princess in Guillermo del Toro's “Beauty and the Beast.” But that project is in the early stages, though, so it's likely that Watson will be free for other roles this year. And she's already got a full slate of movies to promote. After earning raves for her turn in “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” Watson next appears in Sofia Coppola's "The Bling Ring,” Darren Aronofsky's "Noah,” and the apocalyptic comedy “This Is the End,” as a version of herself. As for the role of “Cinderella,” Disney may restart talks with other actresses who were contenders, including Gabriella Wilde ("The Three Musketeers") and Alicia Vikander ("Anna Karenina"). We'd recommend Jennifer Lawrence, but she's probably booked until 2021. [via Variety] PHOTOS
