If you're heading to the theater this weekend, you've got two more options from which to choose: the Colin Farrell revenge-thriller "Dead Man Down," and the low-budget, independent film "Oz the Great and Powerful."
Kidding aside, "Oz" is a high-budget 3D adventure-fantasy from Disney. Starring James Franco as Oz, and Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, and Michelle Williams as the witches, the PG flick is lining up to be the first true blockbuster of the year. It's a visual feast with a story familiar to everyone.
If you're not interested in wicked witches, flying baboons, or wizard origin stories, there's always gritty, R-rated thriller "Dead Man Down." From the director of the original Swedish version of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" comes a story of blackmail, revenge, and Noomi Rapace's ("Prometheus") further entrenching herself into Hollywood fare. Nothing to complain about there.
What are you going to see this weekend?
