This week has been "Catching Fire" right and left. Lionsgate has been releasing images from the upcoming "Hunger Games" sequel. Dubbed Capitol Portraits, they feature central characters in the trilogy dressed up in their finest garb. Unlike publicity stills or slick posters, these look like paintings that would be right at home in President Snow's library, where he might return to sip cognac and relax after a long day of watching tributes die in the arena. So far we've gotten a look at District 12 escort and fashionista Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks), emcee Caesar Flickerman (Stanley Tucci), and grumpy mentor Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson). Today's big reveal is Katniss Everdeen's Capitol Portrait, which shows our heroine (played by Jennifer Lawrence, I mean, obviously) wearing a beautifully layered white gown that sprung, no doubt, from the inspired imagination of Cinna himself. Sure, Katniss looks like she might be encumbered by her fluffy dress and its silvery, branch-like details, or by the virginal white rose she's holding, but we'd be willing to bet that her bow and arrow are within reach. As you can see, Katniss has a lot on her mind on her Victory Tour. There's her relationship with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark, and then the one with her best friend Gale back home in District 12. Obviously, there's some trauma involved in competing to kill other teenagers while also avoiding crazy DNA-spliced creations and other human-made hazards. And there's also the bigger story that she's watching unfurl around her, a conspiracy that goes to the very top of the chain of command. "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" shoots into theaters on Nov. 22. You can see the Katniss portrait below. [via EW] catching fire portrait katniss
